Charter boat like Serendipity are able to show their guests the joys of sailing in the Caribbean and, with minimal maintenance, don’t lose valuable time with their clients for sail repairs.

The fabrics we choose are woven for maximum UV stability and longevity. They are made by the very best sailcloth manufacturers in the world. The weight of the fabrics we choose are always higher than the industry norm.

Not every sailcloth manufacture’s fabric is perfect. We are able to use only the styles we test from each manufacture that are superior. The clews of genoas and head tack and clews of mainsails utilize stainless steel round rings which are attached with polyester tubular webbing, allowing them to be easily repaired on your boat.

UV & Chafe Protection

All of the webbing is straight stitched which insets the thread into the webbing for better protection from both chafe and UV.  The ring end of the webbing is also hand stitched for additional strength and in most cases leathered.

The protective layer on the leech and foot of roller furling genoas, either Sunbrella acrylic or UV Dacron, is wrapped around the leech edge to the opposite side to protect the edge of the sail. Underneath the leech and foot protective cover, each seam has been reinforced to protect it from the flutter and chafe of tacking the sail.

Proprietary Stitch Protection Coating

Our proprietary stitch protection coating, which is applied to all of the stitching through-out the sail, is to protect it from chafe and UV.

High UV Resistance Velcro

We use only polyester Velcro in various applications for batten pockets, cleat covers, clew straps and other custom applications. Some of this Velcro® is custom ordered. Polyester Velcro® has a much better UV resistance than the standard Nylon® used and adds significant life in the sun to any product.

• Dimension-Polyant fabrics which are specially woven for us in Germany for use in high UV utilizing high tenacity fibers in the weave or Hydranet woven Spectra / Dyneema.

• All of the webbing is straight stitched which insets the thread into the webbing for better protection from both chafe and UV.  The ring end of the webbing is also hand stitched for additional strength.
